“When people refer to ‘The Fifties,’ they are probably refering to an era rather than the actual years. Likewise, the years will vary depending on who's looking back. If my brother were talking about ‘The Fifties,’ he would most likely be talking about the early 50's. An era that filled the airwaves with the soft and polished sounds of singers like Rosemary Clooney or The McGuire Sisters. For me, and obviously this web site, ‘The Fifties’ refers to a period which started around '53 when Rock 'n Roll started to shake things up and lasted until the Beatles and the British Invasion hit our shores in the early '60s.
